The New Year is almost here! On Dec. 31st of every year, whether you are young of years or young at heart, we all gather & celebrate, we give thanks and bid goodbye to the year that was and we welcome & celebrate the one to come. Most of the time we celebrate the New Year at home with our closest friends and family but if you want to celebrate amid hundreds of others to try something different this year, I have listed below 2 of the many great events happening in London this Dec. 31st.
Jack Frost’s New Year’s Eve Hoopla! @ Storybook Gardens
December 31, 2014 – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Join the fun and celebrate the New Year family style at Storybook Gardens! Themed activities, outdoor skating, plus great food! The countdown commences at 8:30 pm. This is a family program that requires registration for everyone attending excluding children under 24 months who can attend for free.

Rockin’ New Year’s Eve @ Victoria Park
December 31, 2014 – 6:00 PM – 12:00 AM
Londoners of all ages will gather downtown in beautiful Victoria Park to welcome in 2015 with music, laughter, and spectacular fireworks – it’s all about family, it’s all about fun, and it’s free! This year’s festivities kick off with children’s favourites Queen Elsa and Princess Anna from “My Perfect Princess Party” onstage, followed by a gleeful performance by a few of the best from this year’s Western Fair District “Rise 2 Fame” competition. Of course, children’s entertainers will be nearby with balloons and hot chocolate, and there’ll be a special children’s fireworks display at 9 p.m.
Then, things really get rockin’ after 9 p.m. This year, we’re excited to announce “Hangar 18” will heat up the stage, readying the crowd for our special guest headliners “Platinum Blonde”.
And, of course, the evening wouldn’t be complete without a phenomenal fireworks display from the rooftop of City Hall when the clock strikes midnight.
It doesn’t really matter how or where you’re going to celebrate the New Year, as long as you spend it with your loved ones it will leave you with memories that will last for many years to come. Happy New Year everyone!
A few more days and it’s already Christmas! Cities sparkle with an unparalleled elegance and generous Canadian spirit is apparent everywhere. Family gatherings are one of the many reasons why I love Christmas. This is the time of year when families reunite and gather around the table. Christmas can be anything but dull. Christmas is a great time for parents and children, siblings and in-laws, friends and sweethearts and grandparents to see one another after long separations & just have a great time together over splendid food and drink. Here are some of my personal favorites: (Click on each one to get the recipe)
Families are invited to a Visit with St. Nicholas. Enjoy a hot pancake breakfast, followed by a baked gingerbread man to decorate for dessert. Hop aboard a horse drawn wagon for a beautiful winter ride around the Village and visit a selection of buildings preparing for Christmas. Of course the day wouldn’t be complete without the visit with St. Nicholas himself, who is happy to see each child. Saturday and Sunday sittings available at 9:30, 11:00, and 1:00 p.m. Book on-line at www.fanshawepioneervillage.ca. Advance booking is required.

I personally love Shrek for the twists, turns and surprises that it has. It’s a full parody of numerous fairytales and its humor is just brilliant! Shrek is perfect for everybody to see. The little ones will love the vivid colors of the characters. The adults will enjoy this as well as the intelligent humor. And no one could dislike the arrangement of the songs of course, so be sure to check out Shrek The Musical!
Based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the Book by William Steig Book and Lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire Music by Jeanine Tesori Originally produced on Broadway by DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions Based on the 2001 DreamWorks film, Shrek The Musical is the heartwarmingly-upended fairy tale featuring a crusty but loveable ogre who goes on a life-changing adventure to reclaim the deed to his swamp. Together with a wise-cracking donkey, a defiant princess, a vertically challenged bad guy and a gang of storybook misfits, this unlikely hero discovers that real friendship and true love are not only found in fairy tales.

Thanks to those who challenged the two of us, we had a lot of fun and laughter making the video. The ice bucket challenge has proven to be a fun way to raise money and awareness for a terrifying disease. Most of you have already done so however if not please take part and donate to the cause. Donations can be made at http://www.als.ca/en/donate. I wanted to say special thanks to Ryan for joining Dad. Thanks as well to Cole for recording everything and thanks to Sophie (aka Mom), Curtis (little brother), as well as Tyler (littlest brother) for the laughter.

Over the family day weekend we hosted our First ever Family Movie event. We rented out a movie theatre and invited all our clients and friends to come and watch the new Lego Movie and, if possible, to bring a food bank donation. I wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out and made our first event a huge success. It was great to see everyone who I have had the pleasure to get to know and work with over the last few years all in one place. As a group we managed to collect a huge car load of Food Bank donations that I had the opportunity to drop offer earlier this week. Once again thanks to everyone who came out. I look forward to doing it again next year!

Are your starting to feel the chill in the air? I know it’s still time for autumn but me and my kids are already thinking about the ski season! Skiing is an adrenaline inducing activity and that’s why kids love it. Best to have your children join the kids camp and let them learn at their peers and their own pace. You will find that even if your child never tried skiing before they will probably learn a lot quicker than you. It’s truly incredible how kids learn and how quickly could be because they don’t have many fears and apprehensions that we do as adults, to hold them back. We are already thinking about other fun ways to enjoy the snow!

If you are looking to get some work done on a car or truck, I highly recommend Byron Automotive. It is a family run business where they are very approachable easy to communicate with and are willing to go the extra mile. Wayne and his staff were kind, positive and an absolute pleasure to work with through the entire process.
Byron Automotive can be found right in the heart of Byron on 1263 Commissioners Rd W, London, ON N6K 1C9 or give them a call 519-471-5520. They work on all makes and models and take the stress of out getting automotive work done.
What is summer without free movie nights in the park? Just another great reason why I love our hometown. The City of London and a long list of sponsors present free movie screenings in Victoria Park which started last month July 22nd and is going to run until the 4th of September. The movie nights are also co-sponsored by the London Youth Advisory Council, Western University and the London Public Library.
Bring a blanket or chair and take in a free movie under the starry skies. It’s clear that park patrons love movies. With free film screenings so popular. The movie begins at 8pm and there will be munchies and beverages for sale on site but you may also want to bring whatever you think you might need while watching the movie, don’t forget popcorns & chips!
Watching a movie in a huge screen with stars in the sky as the backdrop is always an amazing experience. Get to the park earlier than you’d think is early, park a spot and picnic.During the movie, it always impresses me that everyone there is really into the movie and is quiet and watches it. So much fun!
Below are the scheduled movies for the next weeks:
- August 21, Ratatouille.
- September 4, BBC’s Planet Earth.
Price: $369,900.00 – SOLD –
